AMG MENTORING PROGRAM FOR
SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS

What is a mentor?
Mentoring is most often defined as a professional relationship in which an experienced person (the mentor) supports and encourages people to develop specific skills and knowledge that will maximize their business potential and improve their performance. In short, it is the transfer of knowledge, skills and experience.

Why do you need a mentor?
No matter if you are a start up business or a business that has been around for 25 years, there are times when every business owner needs advice making an important decision or needs help staying on target. They need someone who can provide advice and guidance based on actual experiences.

Who are AMG mentors?
AMG mentors are business owners with years of experience willing to share their knowledge to help other business owners succeed.

Do mentors get paid?
The Bottom Line. Our view is that the idea of paying a mentor misrepresents the mentoring relationship. It makes it into a service to be paid for, not a relationship that brings lasting benefits to the client. Your mentor is someone who's in your corner for the long term.

Key benefits of the AMG Mentoring Program

(1) Receive advice from an expert:
The biggest benefit of having an AMG mentor is having someone you can ask questions and get advice. Mentors are individuals who have prospered in their line of business. For this reason, as they will be guiding you, they will be able to give you expert guidance and advice that is based on the experiences that they have had as they were starting and running their businesses. These experiences will give you positive energy to push on with your business despite the challenges you are facing.

(2) Learn the importance of Networking:
AMG mentors can put you in touch with contacts who can help you make your business more successful. The more networking you do, the more people you will meet. And, the more people you meet, the greater the odds are that will find someone who can help you.

(3) Build Confidence:
Knowing that you have a credible mentor to turn to can give you confidence when facing difficult business situations.

(4)  Improve Organizational Skills:
Your AMG mentor can help you prioritize and get organized.

(5)  Receive Encouragement:
Starting a business is difficult, and many business owners face challenges early in the process. However, many business owners go through the same types of struggles. Hearing first-hand from your mentor about their experiences will help you realize that the struggles you are going through now will prepare you to be a better business person in the future.

 (6) Accountability:
Motivation can be a hard thing to manufacture but telling your mentor you’re going to achieve something and setting yourself a goal means you have someone to hold you accountable to these goals. This means you’re more likely to act and will therefore see results quicker.

(7) Problem Solving:
If you are having a problem your AMG mentor can give you helpful advice to navigate the problem in a professional way. Their experience and insight can stop you making mistakes and can give you the answers rather than you having to waste valuable time and money working out the right way to handle the situation.

(8) Perspective:
Asking friends and family for help when you’re struggling can be helpful, but a mentor is likely to give you an entirely different perspective from anyone who knows you personally. They can offer you impartial advice from a professional point of view, which may help you see opportunities and challenges from a more constructive perspective.

(9) Focus:
It’s all too easy to get distracted these days so having someone to help you stay on track and focus your attention on the important things will help you maintain your personal and professional growth.

Does mentoring help a small business achieve higher success?
Your chances of success in life and in business can be amplified by having the right mentor. The valuable connections, timely advice, occasional checks -- together with the spiritual and moral guidance you will gain from having a mentor -- will literarily leapfrog you to success.

How does it work?
Business owner can contact their mentor about any business-related matter.  Business owners can get in touch with their mentor having face-to-face meetings, phone consultations or email correspondence. Their mentor is available to help them with all the challenges small business owners face on a day to day basis. They can learn from their mentor's experience and knowledge.
